Sweet Explosion!!......Erin "Sweets" Sweeney leads Lady Flashes to victory against over matched Lady Wildcats

The Flashes Gals were without the services of their senior point guard Jessie "Slick" Foulks who was sidelined in Saturdays win over Bordentown after suffering a blow to the head. Enter junior Erin "Sweets" Sweeney, who although she is a starter usually plays down low in the Flashes Gals three guard offensive scheme. With  "E-Z Liz" Shaffer in the starting line up, "Sweets" moved up to the back court where she handeled the ball a lot more. The end results; 17 points to lead the Lady Flashes offenseive attack. Sweeney was a monster, going to the basket on drives from the back court, offensive rebounding and putting the ball right back up and also excellent on the foul line.
The Flashes Gals defense effectively shutdown the Lady Wildcats as front court players, "E-Z Liz", "Two Names", "Kay Boo" and "Sugar" owned the boards and the low post both offensively and defensively. Meanwhile the back court featuring super freshman Sarah "Too Much" Muchowski, "Sweets", Molly "Big Kate" Fitzpatrick, Torie "Big Tee" Povia and Talaya "Lil Tee" Loran were awsome at both ends of the court. The Flashes Gals "D" held the Lady Wildcats to just five points in the second half. Joining "Sweets" in the scoring column was "Too Much" Muchowski (13), "Kay Boo" Boone (7), "Sugar" Hightower (6), "Big Tee" Povia (5), "Big Kate" Fitzpatrick (3) and "Two Names" Ogbonnaya/Allison (2).

Also having a great game was the junior varsity team who won 42-6 working behind the strong playing of  freshmen "Dez" Fillmyre and "Go Gurl" Blackwell, and sopnomores "Nees" Stockhaus, "Gutz" Lutz & "Silk" Adubato. The junior Lady Flashes smothered their counterparts with a suffocating defense and won easily.

Super freshman Sarah "Too Much" Muchowski (16) and senior Jessica "Slick" Foulks (14) led the way with 30 points betwen them, as the Flashes Gals tucked away another victory as they move towards the playoffs. A virtual repeat of the first meeting. With the Flashes Gals smothering defense providing the catalyst, the Lady Flashes jumped out to a 13 point first quarter lead (18-5) and kept building from there, putting eight players in the score book.  The front court came up big again as sophomore center Chakera "Sugar" Hightower (8), senior forward Kiara "Kay Boo" Boone (5), Sophomore forwards Stephanie "Two Names" Ogbonnaya (4), Torrie "Big Tee" Povia (3), Molly "Big Kate" Fitzpatrick (3) and junior Erin "Sweets" Sweeney (3) combined for 26 points. The Base Line Babes were also tremendous on "D" and on the boards showing marked improvement in their rebounding. Not to be out done, the Front Court Queens not only produced 30 points but they were adept at breaking the press, hetting the open man and sharp with their passes.

Following (or leading as they play first) in the varsity's footsteps, the JV Gals registered their 13 win (5 straight) against 2 losses. With the transition players (JV/Varsity) getting only minimal time early in the first quarter, the reserves got much more playing time, some playing almost the entire game. It didn't really make much difference though as the junior Flashes Gals still managed to win by more than twenty. Stepping up big for the Flashes Gals were  Shannon "Silk" Adubato, Manissa "Go Gurl" Blackwell, Dezaree "Dez" Fillmyre and Erin "Nees" Stockhaus who played almost the entire game. Coming off the bench with great support were Amanda "Gutz" Lutz with her usual gritty performance (who suffered a crushing elbow to the jaw and still continued to play, no foul called), Shavonne "Chevy" Jenkins who had to leave with an injured knee (no foul called) and Amanda "Mandy" Seals who is fast becoming a force on defense for the JV Flashes Gals. After transition players "Sugar" Hightower, "Lil Tee" Loran, "Big Kate" Fitzpatrick and "Big Tee" Povia set the pace and a 14-2 lead early in the first quarter, departed for most of the game. That left ample time for the reserves to hone their skills as they prepare to move up into the starting positions next season. and they showed that they are ready and able as they increased the lead steadily with solid play on both offense and defense.
